a goose of a tale

It was a tranquil afternoon, the heat of the late sun accompanied by the gentle clatter of tea cup on saucer and the odd knife scrape into the jam pot. They sauntered in with no care in the world, but with purpose in each waddle. Right in, they marched, demanding their levy, before seeing how far their empire could extend. Eventually satisfied, they sailed off to the land beyond the bridge…
